RAZZLE DAZZLE 'EM
Stardom School of Performing Arts razzled and dazzled their audience with a superb show of dancing singing and drama.
The programme, loosely based around musicals in contrasting styles and from different periods, has been thoughtfully devised and skilfully choreographed by school director Liz Davies and her talented team. It provided opportunities for all 250 students to display their prodigious technical and artistic versatility.
Intrinsic to the success of the show (apart from the classy, adaptable set and beautiful costumes) were the original musical arrangements provided by the accomplished Stardom Ensemble, lending a fresh immediacy to the music, tailoring it seamlessly to the choreography and enabling the performers to sing live and show how brilliantly so many of them could hold difficult solo tunes and harmonise in chorus, often dancing at the same time.
Every item in the programme, including the drama, impressed in some way with every student confident, focused, unselfconscious and above all professional, even down to the tiny Class Ones performing without minders and remembering every word, every step.
Whether danced or sung, every style was perfectly captured - the Movie Magic pas de deux, Killer Queen and Shakalaka Baby were the absolute stand-outs, for me anyway - in a truly fantastic show which finishes today.

Ambitious and totally successful...talented, enthusiastic and confident young people...splendid choreography...excellent singing in harmony...very professionally accompanied by a large orchestra...fantastic costumes...a colourful, eye-catching and spectacular production...an amazing achievement...they had the audience clapping along...they packed even more sparkle into the show, sweeping the audience along and putting a smile on their faces. Liz Davies and her team have done an excellent job.
